Darkness Becomes Her

PDF Print E-mail
Written by Raymond Lee   Monday, 14 May 2012
A modern-day retelling of one of our obscure Greek myths.  Meet Ari Selkirk, a 17-year-old foster child, while in search of her mother and her past, stumbles upon her family's curse: at the age of 21, every girl from Ari's family goes insane.  She must travel to New 2, the New Orleans after hurricane Katrina, where rumor says that everyone who lives there has supernatural powers of some sort.  This is a story of trust, hope, and most of all vengeance.  Suggested for older teens who enjoys Twilight and Percy Jackson. Author: Kelly Keaton.

Teen Summer Reading Club Coming Soon!

PDF Print E-mail
Written by Gretchen Yonata   Wednesday, 16 May 2012

SRC_2012If you're in teen between the ages of 13-17, you should join the Teen Summer Reading Club at your local branch of the Dayton Metro Library! What is the Teen Summer Reading Club?  It is a way to get prizes for what you read for fun this summer! Some of the prizes include: book lights, mood pencils, book bags and so much more, plus you can enter to win grand prizes at each branch library, including gift cards to Game Stop, the Rave, Best Buy, and iTunes!

So how do you get these prizes? Register between June 1st and August 4th at the Teen Area of your local Dayton Metro Library or check out our summer reading club website from home (choose a username & password you can remember).  Log your reading hours in a Reading Log from the library, or use the library's website. Keep track of the time you spend reading books, audio books, comic books or magazines (no movies allowed).  Each hour will give you one chance toward the grand prize!

You can claim your prizes after your 1st, 15th, 30th, and 60th hour. Ask at the desk and choose the prize you earned! Keep on reading—each hour gives you one more chance at the grand prize!  60 hours = 60 chances. Also check at your library to see what FREE programs and activities are scheduled and be sure you turn in all your titles by August 4th.  All prizes must be claimed by August 18th.

            Have fun and keep reading!
